November 2008 marks the inaugural season for the Exeter Freeze, the newest member of the Eastern Professional Hockey League (EPHL). The Freeze will play home games at the Exeter Ice House, located less than 19 miles from the Hampton Inn Portsmouth. Playing a 50 game schedule, the Exeter Freeze will play 25 home games at the Ice House. In addition to the Exeter Freeze, the league is currently comprised of teams from Danbury, CT (Mad Hatters), Brooklyn, NY (Brooklyn Aces), West Orange, NJ (The Jersey Rockhoppers), and Rome, NY. Additional teams will be announced soon. Portsmouth and Exeter, NH welcome the Freeze and see this as an excellent opportunity for some local ice hockey talent to make the jump to the professional ranks.
